She/Her
I would like to say that Diversity Equity and Inclusion (“DEI”) was always a passion of mine, but I would be lying. In fact, I spent most of my childhood and young-adult life not caring about DEI because all I wanted was to fit in with those in my environment. I was able to shelter myself from acknowledging my cultures and traditions for a long time. By the time I got to law school I had slowly become more comfortable with who I was and found myself getting more involved with DEI work. I became the president of the Minority Law Student Association and began working toward uniting the affinity groups on campus. Additionally, I got a job at OHSU at the Center for Diversity and Inclusion. I spent about 3 years there, helping staff and student affinity groups, working with AAEO complaints, and holding summer research programs for underrepresented students who wanted to be competitive applicants when applying for medical school. So, while I have lived experiences as a woman of color that make me qualified to be a co-chair of this Smith Freed Eberhard’s diversity committee, I also have work experience in the field both at an informal educational level and at a formal large organizational level. I am excited to bring my experience and skills in DEI work to SFE and help our firm grow in diversity, equity, and inclusion.
