Expertise Overview

Steve’s practice primarily involves defending builders in construction defect disputes. He also devotes a significant amount of his time to advising employers in regard to employment matters and representing employers in disputes arising from such matters. During the past fifteen years, Steve has been heavily involved in all aspects of insurance coverage law, from drafting insurance policy terms to advising insurance companies with regard to their duties in a wide variety of circumstances, as well as defending insurance companies in coverage disputes in Oregon and Washington courts.

Steve prides himself on efficient, persuasive legal writing, and he has extensive experience in briefing and arguing summary judgment motions and appellate cases. He has been instrumental in several appellate victories for his clients, including the following cases: Schell v. Schollander, 265 Or. App. 624 (2014), aff’d 358 Or. 552 (2016); Morello v. Vonda, 167 Wash. App. 843, 850, 277 P.3d 693, 697 (2012); and Herron v. Ball, 224 Or. App. 687 (2008).
