John’s practice focuses on a variety of complex civil litigation matters, including the defense of businesses and individuals against personal injury, commercial liability, premises liability and property damage lawsuits.
Prior to joining Smith Freed Eberhard, John gained his civil litigation experience in the state of Washington defending personal injury, bodily injury and professional liability claims. John developed his law and motion practice and gained experience as a defense attorney while clerking for the San Joaquin County Public Defender and volunteering for three years with the San Diego Clean Slate Clinic. In addition, he has a background in commercial collections and was a small claims mediator for the San Diego Superior Court.
While earning his Juris Doctor at Thomas Jefferson School of Law, he was active in Moot Court and competed in several national competitions. Notably, his team finished as quarterfinalists in the Jessup Cup Pacific Regional Qualifier (Lewis and Clark Law School, 2014). John also represented clients in the Small Business Law Center, was a PILF scholarship recipient and is an Eagle Scout.
