Smith Freed & Eberhard Graduates 12 Attorneys from the Firm’s Black Belt Trial Advocacy Training Program

Portland, Oregon (April 20, 2010) – Smith Freed & Eberhard is pleased to announce the graduation of 12 attorneys from the firm’s Black Belt Trial Advocacy Training Program.

The Black Belt Trial Advocacy Training Program is an interactive 10-week litigation workshop designed to sharpen and enhance attorney trial skills. The program is based on Herbert J. Stern’s “Trying Cases to Win” advocacy series.

Students of the program attended the trial advocacy training sessions, team meetings and trial skills acting classes. Students also prepared and presented two opening statements that were given in front of a mock jury and final review panel.

“Having the opportunity to complete the Black Belt Trial Advocacy Training Program was a great experience and it will definitely give me the upper hand in my practice,” said Taylor Hallvik, a recent program graduate.

The most recent graduates of the program developed by Smith Freed & Eberhard are as follows; Blair McCrory, Curtis Burns, Jillian Hinman, Katie Buxman, Michael Sullivan, Robert Sinnott, Sam Ruckwardt, Taylor Hallvik, Troy Pickard and Bill Richardson. Also graduating are two in-house counsel attorneys, Patrick Reece from Farmers Insurance and Karen Nashiwa of GEICO Insurance.
