Professional Experience
Bruce is part of Smith Freed & Eberhard’s Construction and Development Group. His pre-law background includes graduating with honors in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Washington. This technical background proves beneficial when representing contractors and construction professionals. His legal experience includes defending general contractors, subcontractors, and construction professionals with respect to landslide claims, EIFS claims, multi-family homeowner association litigation, general building envelope claims, Employer Liability Law (ELA) claims and mold claims. Bruce has been with Smith Freed since 1998.

- Successful Jury and Bench trial results
- Has recently won several summary judgment motions dismissing six figure claims against general contractors
- Has represented contractors before the Court of Appeals and established important legal precedent for construction defect issues. See Quail Hollow West Owners Assoc. v. Brownstone Quail Hollow, LLC, 343 Or. 115 (2007); Harris v. Suniga, 209 Or. App. 410 (2006).
- Multiple personal injury and construction defect arbitrations, including brain injury claims and representing general contractors in construction defect cases
