Professional Experience

Jeff’s practice focuses on civil litigation throughout Oregon and Washington. The concentration of his practice is in the defense of injury claims, typically commercial liability claims or large automobile accidents. Jeff also specializes in business litigation cases.

Jeff serves as the editor of two of the firm’s newsletters: the Oregon Risk Management Reporter and the Washington Risk Management Reporter. The newsletters provide information on recent case law and legislative changes affecting insurance carriers and risk management departments. Finally, Jeff has been the firm’s managing partner since 1999.

Significant Representations

  • Defended a nursing home against a claim that four deaths and one injury were caused by morphine overdose administered by nurse. Plaintiffs sought 5 million dollars in compensatory damages and $15 million in punitive damages. After extensive factual and legal work-up, case was successfully resolved at mediation.
  • Defense of undercover security company against claim for false imprisonment. Plaintiff represented by Greg Kafoury. Significant damages were sought at trial; jury returned a 12-0 defense verdict finding no liability.

Jeff also enjoys white water kayaking. He recently kayaked over 190 miles on the Grand Canyon.
