Wrongful Termination
Plaintiff, a mortgage broker, brought claims against a real estate company and three of their brokers for interference with contractual relations, interference with employment relations, and negligent supervision based principally upon the allegation that Defendants improperly listed a house belonging to him, then caused Plaintiff to be fired from his job. Plaintiff sought $512,000 in damages. Two weeks after settlement negotiations failed (Plaintiff rebuffed Defendants’ offer of $1,000), Smith Freed & Eberhard attorney Rob May argued a motion for summary judgment before the Circuit Court of the State of Oregon, Multnomah County, asserting that Plaintiff failed to present admissible evidence that Defendants caused Plaintiff to be fired, and that the remaining claims were barred by the 2-year statute of limitations. The Court agreed wholeheartedly and Plaintiff’s Complaint was dismissed.
