FMLA

Family Medical Leave Act

A Sheriff's office was sued over the termination of a former employee.  The former employee was a corrections officer who was terminated during his probationary period after several complaints from supervisors regarding his performance. However, the former employee alleged that he was terminated in retaliation for taking family leave to care for his child.

Partner Starla Goff was retained to resolve the issue.  After artfully taking Plaintiff’s deposition, Starla convinced the former employee that his case had no merit. Consequently, Plaintiff voluntarily dismissed the entire case with prejudice.

The Sheriff was extremely pleased that county services would not be disrupted with depositions and further preparation for this legal battle.
