Sexual Harassment
A high-profile client was charged with sexual harassment in the workplace. Because Partner Starla Goff knows that allegations of sexual harassment, even if unfounded, can be damaging to a reputation, she was able to convince the accuser that mediation would be the best alternative to resolve the allegations, rather than going public with the accusations.
After all parties agreed, mediation was scheduled to occur after 45 days. This time allowed Starla and her team to thoroughly investigate the claims by interviewing the company’s employees and ex-employees, investigating the claimant, working with a PR firm, and preparing the theory of the case. During the investigation, the team uncovered information that exonerated the client. Starla was able to present the exculpating evidence resulting in the case being resolved discreetly, with no damage to the vindicated client’s reputation.
